The Founders Group

Educational Events

The Founders Group offers a variety of educational and informational courses, workshops and collaborative discussion groups to other professionals, prospects and clients.  We strongly believe in collaborative team-teaching with other professionals.  The presenters are selected because they are experts in their field who enjoy teaching and who give of themselves and their free time.  Their unique skills, experience, expertise and judgment are truly invaluable to the audience and are extraordinarily well-received.  Dialogue and participation with the audience is as important as the materials prepared by the presenters.

We have a close affiliation with The Southern California Institute, which offers a variety of educational and informational courses, workshops and seminars to practicing professionals, business owners and individuals.  Most of them are accredited for continuing professional education purposes.  Many of our own educational events are offered through the Southern California Institute programs.

Events currently being offered by The Founders Group are listed below.  If you are interested in attending any of these events, please call Jennifer at (858)200-1915 or send an email to jrh@foundersgroup.biz.

with Joseph J. Strazzeri and Gerald W. Widasky, Principals, The Founders Group

Business owners can learn about The Entrepreneur's Toolkit, a progressive series of related but independent services - each of which is designed to enhance one of The 4 Common Elements of every business:
  • Condition: Where are they now?
  • Strategy: Where they should be going and how to get there.
  • Structure: Does their current structure and internal process serve those goals?
  • Culture: Does everyone in the company understand those goals and buy in?
They'll learn how to: make more money, focus on their unqiue skills, delegate without losing control, and how to have more quality time for themselves and their families.

The Entrepreneur's Toolkit - Focused on Financing and Capitalization Strategies for Closely Held Businesses
with Richard A. Mager, Managing Director, Cove Partners LLC and
Gerald W. Widasky, Principal, The Founders Group

MEASURING, MANAGING & IMPROVING THE FOUR COMMON ELEMENTS
OF A BUSINESS:
CONDITIONValue & Viability
STRATEGYClarity & Specificity
STRUCTUREStability & Flexibility
CULTURETeamwork and Trust

Closely held businesses all share similar characteristics in their day-to-day operating reality:
· There are always “squeaky wheels” to attend to
· Resources available to deal with the “squeaky wheels” are limited
· Conflicting priorities abound - “If it ain’t one thing, it’s another”
· There aren’t enough hours in the day
· No entrepreneur knows everything there is to know
· Access to external expert advice depends on personal contacts

Entrepreneurial businesses have many advantages for their owners – primarily revolving around the opportunity to do what they love to do!  The reality is, however, that many issues get in the way of that focus and require the entrepreneur’s personal attention and effort.  These issues often cause decisions based on the moment of need, rather than the long term strategy.

This workshop will provide an easy-to-use process for driving to results with emphasis on financial and equity considerations normally available only to major corporations!  The workshop will help you understand your clients’ needs and give them the right answer the first time!
